Can We Talk About Batting?

Let's face it, I'm cheap. I buy my batting at Robert's so I can use my 50% off coupon. I know, I know, some people don't think it's a real quilt unless it's all bought at the quilt shop, but I have to save money somewhere and the batting is where I do it (that and sale rack backs). Anyway, I usually use Hobbs 80/20. Robert's in Centerville has been out of it since NOVEMBER in twin and larger! Apparently it's on backorder. I went to a few different stores today, but couldn't bring myself to spend twice as much for the same thing so I'm battingless. What kind of batting do you use and where do you buy it?

You're brilliant! I never thought to go to Roberts and use the coupon!
I don't have any suggestions, I've only tied a few quilts, nothing fancy like yours, but I got that batting at WalMart. Don't know how it compares to the Roberts stuff...
Your talent is awesome Elizabeth!

I use batting from my local quilt shop which is on a huge roll. It is Hobbs 80/20 and I LOVE it!! I don't find it too expensive; $6.25 a yard. I belive it's 96" or 120". So even if I had a ginormous quilt it wouldn't be more than 3 1/2 yards.

I'm a Warm N' Natural girl. LOL I buy by the package or by the yard at Joann Fabrics and usually use a coupon.

I am cheap as well. I refuse to pay full price. I buy warm and natural, and I only buy it when I have a coupon to joanns. I prefer the 50% off, but if I am desperate I will settle for the 40%. Once I had a 60% off and I just bought the whole bolt. It was awesome.....but now I am out.

I think you spend so much time and money on your quilt, you should use the best batting. Each wash gets softer with a nicer one. 100% cotton is my standard, because it puckers well. Quilters Dream is my most fav - but spendy. My friend at Broadbents helped me get them by the roll wholesale, but now that I have my own license I can do it myself. If you want a roll of anything, let me know next time you're down here. You make enough quilts.

I am cheap too. I buy whole rolls of warm and natural at JoAnnes when it is fifty per cent off. They do the rolls about 2 times a year. Usually July and Thanksgiving. Sometimes the day after Tgiving they have a coupon besides the half off.
